March 8, 2010
The meeting was called to order by Maureen Olguin at 5:30 p.m.

Approval of Minutes
The minutes were read from the February meeting and approved.
Treasurer’s Report-Kim Taylor
Beginning Balance $5558.72
Income $46.75-game night proceeds

Checks $250 on 2/5 to Aria Finch for 6th grade pottery class
$97.03 on 3/1 to Jessica McGuire for meals during Science Olympiad

Upcoming Expenses - Mrs. Lawner is pricing video cameras for her class. She will report back with details.
Principal’s Report
- Testing begins on April 5th and runs through April 9th. Volunteers are needed to be hall monitors and to provide healthy snacks for the kids.
- SGMS Foundation will be meeting on March 15, 2010 and there will be a vote regarding the possible move to the other facility.
- June 18, 2010 the Sidney Gutierrez Foundation Fundraiser will take place.
Business
- Spirit Week-March 15th -19th
- Box Tops for Education contest March 15th-19th
- Teacher Appreciation will happen in May. Each grade level will provide a meal for the teachers. Dates TBA
- Eighth Grade Graduation-Mrs. Lawner did find an 8th grade parent volunteer to plan the party.
- Yearbook-no report yet, Mrs. Lawner is researching further details.
- End of Year School Trips-each grade level will take an end of year trip. The 7th grade trip will be May 5th-8th to Cottonwood Gulch. Details for 6th & 8th grade trips have not yet been decided.
- Krispie Kreme fundraiser begins March 15th. Maureen will pass out order forms to the students. Orders must be submitted by March 30th. Donuts will be delivered on April 1st. Kim and Maureen will be picking up the orders again this year, donating both their time and gas. Three prizes for selling this year, 1st-$25, 2nd-$15, 3rd-$10.
- PTO report to principal. Meeting minutes will be provided to Mr. Andreis.
- Yard Sale fundraiser will be April 24th from 8am-noon at Mrs. Lawner’s home on SW corner of 8th and Lea. Parents and students are encouraged to donate items to sell.
- End of School Bash and/or Fundraiser-no decisions were made.
- PTO is donating $100 to High Plains Writing Project in acknowledgment of their work at SGMS.
- PTO membership recruitment drive was discussed. Parent participation has been low.
